THE TRAVEL POINT ATLAS

Mexico

Choose your Mexico: a Caribbean escape, Pacific resort or journey through city culture and Maya heritage.

WHEN TO CONSIDERNovember to April

FIND YOUR KIND OF MEXICO

Culture, coast & time together

Mexico can be a week of unhurried beach days or a journey through food, architecture and Maya heritage. The first decision is which Mexico you want to experience: the Caribbean, the Pacific and the inland cities call for different routes.

A STARTING LENGTH7–12 nights
A SUGGESTED RHYTHMOne coast, or city + coast

Suggested nights at the destination; allow separately for the journey from Canada.

Choose the setting before the hotel.

Riviera Maya & Yucatán

Consider a Caribbean resort for beach time, or add Mérida for markets, haciendas and Maya heritage. Choose excursions around the actual driving time from your hotel.

Los Cabos & the Pacific

Compare a resort escape in Baja California with the greener setting around Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit. Oceanfront does not automatically mean a swimming beach.

Mexico City

Give museums, neighbourhood walks and dining their own city stay. It can be paired with the coast, but the flight and transfer deserve space in the itinerary.

When would it feel right for you?

Winter & early spring

A useful starting window for a beach escape. Christmas, New Year and school breaks call for particular attention to room choice and availability.

Summer & autumn

Compare the specific coast and your flexibility around rain and tropical weather. A city-focused trip has different priorities from a holiday built entirely around boat outings.

Inland & multi-region trips

Elevation and region matter. Pack for the cities as well as the coast, and choose dates around your most important outdoor experience.
